Introduction
The Announcement Board Storage report displays the result of a number of commands, including some run at file system level on the board itself.
The results of those commands are processed to show the true storage situation. The stored files are reconciled against the configuration, allowing announcement files that will never be addressed, and are therefore redundant, to be identified.
Uses
This report can be used for a multitude of board storage analyses, such as:
- Identify available storage on a board by board basis.
- Highlight space taken up by redundant files.
- View potential issues with Audio Group configuration.
- Use as an indicator of other potential problems.
Example 1
The following board is showing only 409 seconds (or 3,272 Kb/3.272 Mb) of storage remaining, when in fact almost 5 Mb of storage is taken up by redundant files.
Redundant files are files on the boards that are not configured to an Announcement extension and are therefore not being used.
By deleting the redundant files, the customer can remove the need to purchase additional hardware.
Example 2
When the report is compared to a second board in this deployment it shows how the used storage is almost mirrored between the two.
In fact, there is only 403 Kb difference, indicating that the audio group configuration is close, but not quite perfect.
The Audio Group report, found under Configuration Management, will confirm if audio group configuration is indeed the issue.
