Introduction
Audio Groups can be confusing to administer and manage. Even if Audio Groups are not set up correctly, they can still appear to work when tested.
For example, the .wav file played is the one closest to the caller. Test calls can reveal the appropriate announcement content is heard but how can announcements on distant VAL boards be tested?
Distant boards can contain the incorrect .wav file, and therefore play the wrong message. The Audio Group report can be used to confirm that the configuration is correct in every aspect.
Uses
The primary function of this report is allowing users to:
- Identify the individual VAL boards within an Audio Group.
- Confirm that the .wav files are in fact on all VAL boards within the Audio Group.
- See the size of the Announcement file loaded on each VAL to confirm its content.
The line item will be highlighted red if:
- the file is on 1 Board but not on the other(s)
- there is no file
- the files are different sizes
If no creation date can be obtained then this field will default to 1980-01-01 00:00:00
Example
In this example, the Audio Group contains two VAL boards; 01C12 and 02A07. Both boards have the same .wav files loaded. They have the same filenames and they are the same size.
The system administrators can be confident that the correct announcement content will always be played, regardless of the location of the caller.
