VSM has a Real-time reporting panel called a ‘Dashboard’. There are numerous report ‘Dashlets’ that can be displayed on each ‘Dashboard’, depending on which systems you are managing with VSM.  The Dashlets provide configuration, capacity, availability and/or performance information related to the consumption of various platform resources.

The purpose of the dashboard is three-fold:

  • To enable IT teams to proactively identify potential issues and prevent outages.
  • To provide a real time view of overall systems health at a glance without having to rely on end-users reporting problems, using smart color coding of potential issues.
  • In the event of a service-impacting incident, to significantly reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), reducing the impact on business operations.

Navigate to dashboards via Service Desk → Dashboards.

  1. To add a dashboard, click on the ‘Add Dashboard’ button on the Dashboards screen.
  2. Populate Add Dashboard fields and then click OK.
    • Name – The Name of the Dashboard
    • Sharing – Private or Public
      1. If Private only the Owner can view the dashboard
      2. If Public other users can view the dashboard. Other users can then Open or Copy the dashboard but cannot Edit or Delete it
    • Owner – Defaults Users name here and cannot be edited.
    • Description – an optional field that describes the contents or use
    • Tick box – Allows the Dashboard to Auto Start when the owner logs in. If selected this Dashboard will automatically open in a second browser tab when the owner logs into VSM
      1. On first Logon you will need to allow Popups for your autostart dashboards
  3. You have created a new dashboard name. Now select the new name and right click to Open Dashboard to add required dashlets.
