Introduction

VSM Everywhere (VSM-E) is UC / CC technology independent - and able to be applied to a device regardless of whether the user has Microsoft Teams, Skype, Genesys, 8x8, Zoom, Avaya, Avaya One Cloud Private, Cisco, WebEx or other technology. Wherever your people work, this technology-agnostic platform ensures your Unified Communications and Contact Center users can operate at peak performance.

Navigate to this page via Configuration Manager > VSM Everywhere Devices.

Summary Statistics can be found at the top of the page and provide a count of each item. Filter the grid information and the item count will adjust in the Summary Statistics.


On the grid you will find:

  • Any device with VSM-E installed on it will be listed here

  • under the Host Name.
  • If a user has logged into the device their user name will show and Last Check In will identify when they were last active on the device.  
  • If another user logs into the device, then the Host Name will appear twice - once for each User Name, and with the applicable Last Check In time.
  • To view Details for a device, left-click on a row. As you navigate through the tabs, warning triangles and mouse-over information will highlight areas that fall outside industry recommended standards.
  • Exporting this list provides additional data useful for asset management.
  • Edit the Profile Groupassigned to devices. 
    • Select the check box next to the host name to enable the Set Profile Group button and change the selected users to another Profile Group. 
    • Creating a new Profile Group must be completed in 

Last Check In column is updated every 5 minutes and shows the time when a VSM-E device was last active and communicating with the virtual collector.

The Device Details pop-up will default to the Last 2 Hours of available data,  just mouse over the data points to view the time your instance covers. Or you can choose a Custom two-hour range.

Users can query data at any point in time BUT there is a hard limit set to a two-hour range.

Speed Test

By default speed test will run every 10 minutes unless the work station is asleep or powered off. Speed test requires unrestricted internet access, see requirements below. The test uses a variable amount of data depending on the throughput of your internet connection - see details below. Typically VSM-E is not suitable for use on a high speed internet connection with a low data cap, as that cap can be easily breached. 

  • TCP/UDP inbound/outbound port 8080
  • TCP/UDP inbound/outbound port 5060 
  • TCP outbound port 443


Download

  • VSM-E establishes multiple connections with the test server. VSM-E then requests the test server to send an initial chunk of data.
  • VSM-E calculates the real-time speed of the transfer, then adjusts the chunk and buffer size based on this calculation to maximize usage of the network connection. (Note that this shouldn't impact the quality of voice or video calls in progress)
  • As the chunks are received by VSM-E, it will request more chunks throughout the duration of the test.
  • During the first half of the test, VSM-E will establish extra connections to the server if it determines additional threads are required to more accurately measure the download speed.
  • The test ends once the test duration has been reached, therefore amount of data used in the test will vary based on the capability of the connection.

Upload

Ping

  • This test is performed by measuring the time it takes for the test server to reply to a request from VSM-E. VSM-E sends a message to the test server, upon receiving that message, the server sends a reply back. The round-trip time is measured is measured in ms (milliseconds).
  • This test is repeated multiple times with the lowest value determining the final result.

Hardware Details tab

As can be seen in the screen capture below, the Hardware Details tab contains:

  • Manufacturer, Model, version, number of logical processors
  • Processor and Memory occupancy



System Details tab

Note: Machine will populate for a Linux device.

Headset Details tab

If you used a supported Jabra headset during the specified time frame (default is last 2 hours), you will see additional information:

  • Headset Details -
    • service management details such as headset model, firmware release, connection type and Blue Tooth link quality
    • Boom Arm positioning
  • Audio Levels - employee well being data including audio volumes and background noise levels (room analytics)
    • Average Listening volume & Max Listening volume with warning symbols based on WHO recommendations
  • Audio Transaction Breakdown - time spent on mute, listening and talking along with an indication of when listening and talking is happening simultaneously (cross talk) 

If no headset data is showing for the last 2 hours then you can select the "Last Headset Info" button to find that data.

To see this data for a specific time period then  select "custom" and set the date / time you require. This setting will persist for all searches until you navigate away. Note that the search period is limited to two hours.Excessive average and maximum listening volumes will raise warning flags. (Based on WHO recommendations)

Headset Calls tab

The Headset Details tab provides a summary of all calls on the headset. On the Headset Calls tab Here you can see headset statistics per call.

Creating a Profile Group

A Profile Group represents a set of metrics that the VSM-E client will track.

Assigning the Profile Group to the device determines what metrics VSM-E needs to collect per device. For more information go here...


Editing the Profile Group assigned to a device

You can edit a device from the VSM-E Devices page, and assign another Profile Group using the "Set Profile Group" button. This is greyed out until at least one device is selected by using the selection boxes in the left hand column. 

Note: Only existing Profile Groups will show in the selection drop-down box. If you require a new Profile Group, you can create one if you have Administrator permissions. Read how here...

NOTE: Editing requires VSM Everywhere devices to have probe version 1.0.61 and above.
