This report measures actual trunk group occupancy in Centi-Call Seconds (CCS) over a selected period of time. Can be applied to a single Trunk Group or to multiple Trunk Groups. VSM samples traffic regularly to produce very accurate numbers.

Particularly valuable for identifying where traffic congestion issues may be evident. Also useful for comparative measurement of traffic between trunk groups. Can be used in conjunction with Availability Management to identify pending capacity issues. Tracks trunk group utilization in CCS over a selected period of time. Measurements include:

  • Maximum daily CCS
  • Max possible CCS
  • Moving average
  • Trend over period of time

Useful for forward planning and for growth forecasting. Trending enables identification of future capacity issues so that appropriate planning can occur.

Video Overview

Example 1

The obvious flat-topping that can be seen in this trunk-group report shows that it is too small for the traffic being presented.

Example 2

The graph below indicates that traffic flows were working as designed up until 6 PM. The sudden variation to normal traffic patterns indicated a fault existed. This fault was within the carrier network, and despite the level of business impact it did not trigger an alarm for either Communication Manager or the Carrier. VSM detected this problem and notified the concerned parties.
