The purpose of the Test Alarm Rules utility is to see how an existing unresolved alarm would be handled if it was to be processed by the current set of alarm rules.
- Select the customer required. This will retrieve a list of unresolved alarms for that customer.
- Select the required alarm from the list of current unresolved alarms.
- Modify any of the alarm specific properties to match your test case.
- Click the Run Test button.
The results of the test are displayed in the results grid shown below. The rules are processed in the defined order where the result is a X or √ or - indicating no match, match and not tested respectively. The not tested result occurs because a previous rule configured to stop on match, matched, so subsequent rules were not tested.
Modify the alarm rules or the test criteria until the expected results are achieved. Don't forget to check some exception cases to ensure that your rule not only matches successfully, but that it does not match unexpectedly.
