Introduction
Announcement files can be removed in ACM configuration, but this action does not remove the underlying .wav file.
The result is that Announcement resources end up having files that are taking up storage space, yet will never be used.
Over time, the situation gets worse and eventually the Announcement resources (VAL, MG Announcement or Media Server) can appear to have no storage remaining, when in reality they do.
This report identifies, by filename and board location, any .wav files that can be removed to recover storage space.
Behind the scenes the report reconciles Announcements that are configured in ACM against the underlying media files. The output is a list of files that can safely be removed.
Uses
- Automating reconciliation of ACM configuration versus .wav files is a major time-saver.
- Display used storage capacity per announcement resource.
- Identify each .wav file by name, file size and date created.
Example
This report works hand-in-hand with the Capacity Manager - Announcement Storage report, which shows the extent of the issue, but not the files to remove.
