IPSI Round Trip Delay

The IPSI Round Trip Delay report measures the latency between the IPSI and the PCD (Processor). This network is often referred to as the Control Network. The IPSI is effectively a NIC for the Port Network.

Note:Note: The data flowing over this network is used for control purposes. Even though the bandwidth consumed is relatively small it is very important that QoS policy is applied. If the Control Network does not meet Avaya’s recommended performance standards parts or all of the solution can restart, causing major business interruption.

  • Identify over an extended time period the peak and average latency of the Control Network
  • Use this data to ascertain if the Control Network performance meets Avaya specifications
  • Use as an indicator of potential problems when there is a sudden change
  • Detect and resolve issues before they become business-impacting
  • Use for Root Cause Analysis to prevent a recurrence of the incident

Example 1

In this example the IPSI in Port Network 1 is experiencing a maximum latency of around 70 mSec and an average latency is around 10 mSec. This Control Network is working within the Avaya recommendations. Control Network A is active.

Example 2

In this example the IPSI in Port Network 10 is experiencing a maximum latency of around 140 mSec and an average latency is around 85 mSec. Although this Control Network is mostly working within the Avaya recommendations, any degradation in performance could cause a Port Network restart. The UC team need to work in conjunction with the data team to improve the performance of the Control Network prior to there being an outage. Network A is active.
