Introduction
Identifies TDM Bus utilization as a percentage of capacity over a selected period of time.
Uses
Particularly valuable for identifying where traffic balancing may be required.
Identifying traffic trends and the associated impact on TDM Bus capacity can mitigate otherwise unseen issues.
Can also be used in conjunction with Availability Management to identify pending capacity issues.
Typically during the design phase, presales engineers will ensure the loading of TDM devices such as Primary Rate connections, Voice Announcements and Music sources are spread evenly between Port Networks in the same location.
Once in production, the various devices are subjected to real-world conditions. After cutover, the Virsae Associate or End-User Customer can use Virsae to validate how the design is working in real-world conditions.
This often presents the need for further tuning and is a good example of best-practice technology delivery.
Example
In the following example, there is a need to redistribute TDM resources. Note the imbalance in loading between Port Networks in the same physical location.
One Port Network is exceeding 80% of capacity whilst the others are tracking at less than 40%.
