Introduction

The Location Bandwidth report measures traffic between a Session Manager and a Location, over selected period of time. Traffic is measured in Kbps.

During the presales phase, End User Customers usually provide estimates of data volumes between sites. These figures are often based on gut-feel, rather than solid information.

Once an Avaya Aura Session Manager is deployed and in production, VSM can be used to measure exact metrics, allowing design review and platform tuning to be undertaken. This is in line with best practice delivery guidelines.

In addition, one of the most frequently asked questions in a managed environment is how much bandwidth is used by my SIP applications?

VSM provides this information on both a real time and historic basis. VSM's measurements represent actual bandwidth consumption broken down into the media types that may be used to communicate between various sites.

Uses

This report can be used for various activities, including:

  • Validate data, that is used in design decisions, to inform an expansion or contraction of assets such as WAN bandwidth where necessary.
  • Accurate bandwidth figures for modelling expansions.
  • Advise when bandwidth constraints are being encountered, when used in conjunction with Availability Manager.
