Introduction
The IP Network Region report measures traffic between nominated IP Network Regions, over selected period of time. Traffic is measured in Kbps.
During the presales phase, End User Customers usually provide estimates of call volumes between sites. These figures are often based on gut-feel, rather than solid data.
Once an Avaya Aura Communication Manager is deployed and in production, VSM can be used to measure exact metrics, allowing design review and platform tuning to be undertaken. This is in line with best practice delivery guidelines.
One of the most frequently asked questions in a managed environment is how much bandwidth is used by my voice applications?
Virsae provides this information on both a real time and historic basis, providing visibility of metrics normally beyond the scope of most management platforms.
Virsae's measurements reflect actual bandwidth consumption, as allowances have already been made for mixed CODEC types that may be used to communicate between various sites.
Uses
This report can be used:
- To validate data, that is used in design decisions, to inform an expansion or contraction of assets such as Media Resources where necessary.
- To get accurate bandwidth figures for modelling expansions
- For right-sizing of data network pipes.
- In conjunction with Availability Manager to advise when bandwidth constraints are being encountered.
Example
Example 1
In this example the End User Customer is tracking the bandwidth consumed by calls over their SIP trunk. By right-sizing their IP trunk pipe, carrier savings are possible.
Example 2
In this example, the End User Customer is tracking bandwidth consumption between their TDM trunks and their Avaya Aura Voice Portal system. The Voice Portal is going to be moved into a data center and the End User Customer can provision the right size WAN connection.
