All of the alarms administered within VSM’s Maintenance object database have default responses attached to them. For various reasons you may want to override these default responses.

By default the following is true:

  • Severity 2 is a Major alarm.
  • Severity 4 is a Minor alarm.
  • Severity 6 is a warning.

To override a default response/workflow click on ‘Alarms and Responses’ under the ‘Availability Manager’, ‘Management’ menu.

Find the Alarm name you want and then expand it by clicking the + symbol.
Click the ‘Create Response’ button.

Set the Alarm severity to where you want it (between 0-10), and the Activated workflow to your liking. Or blank for no workflow. Click ‘Next’

Add or remove actions you would like performed upon alarm receipt. Click ‘Next’

Set the level at which you would like this override applied, either an entire customer, or right down to one specific administered ID. Click ‘Submit’.

Your override is now saved, and can be viewed, edited or deleted within ‘Availability Manager’, ‘Management’, ‘Overriding Alarm Responses’.
